Lady Miners are "Buff" Enough in Season Opener

Sara Tew and the Lady Miners rode the hot arm of star Sophomore pitcher Bailey Buffington (1-0) to a victory over rival Poyen Tuesday night in Bauxite.  Buffington took a perfect game into the 7th inning but a scrappy Lady Indians squad scratched out 2 runs (1 being earned) in the top of the 7th before Bailey set down the side for the first victory of the season.  She finished the game allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits while striking out 10 Indians.  She was supported at the plate by freshmen Taylor Sledd (2 for 3, 1 RBI) and Ashley Redmon (1 for 3 with a triple) and Junior Sydney Oliver (1 for 2, 1 RBI).  The Ladies are back in action against Bearden at home on Friday at 4:30.
