Lady Miners Stay Perfect on the Season
Wednesday, March 16, 2016

Coach Sara Tew and her Lady Miner softball team stayed unbeaten on the early season after 2 home wins this week.  Bauxite moved to 5-0 on the season after non-conference wins over Sheridan and Robinson.  Bauxite took on the 6A Lady Jackets at home Monday night.  The Lady Miners were led on the mound by Sophomore ace Bailey Buffington (4-0) who sat down 7 batters and only allowed 1 run in 7 innings.  She was supported at the plate by fellow sophomores Shelby Chavers who went 3 for 3 at the plate.  Danielle Singleton and freshmen slugger Taylor Sledd both had RBIs for Bauxite.  On Tuesday night, the Lady Miners dominated the Lady Senators of Robinson 19-0 in three innings.  Freshmen Ashley Redmon got the start for Bauxite on the mound and contributed 3 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts.  The Robinson pitchers struggled to find the strike zone as Bauxite batters took numerous walks.  Jacie Cooper lead Bauxite with 2 hits, while sophomore Singleton had 4 RBIs for the Lady Miners.  The Ladies are back in action on Thursday evening at home against a solid Glen Rose team at 5:00.  They will then travel to North Little Rock on Friday night at 7:30 to take on 7A power Rogers in the annual Tournament of Champions.
