Bauxite Senior Adrienne LaSage was recently awarded the distinct honor of being an official recipient of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship. Student-Athletes from all across the state vie for this honor every year, and only five are chosen among the thousands. However, Bauxite Senior Adrienne is no stranger to success.

Adrienne has received the AP Scholar Award, Everett Academic of the Month Award, qualified for the 2015 FBLA National Conference, Member of the National Honor Society, and was a Wendy’s High School Heisman High School Finalist. At Bauxite, she is a member of the Varsity Basketball Team (3 years), Varsity Track Team (2 years), Competitive Drama (3 years), Future Business Leaders of America (2 years), Bauxite High’s Green Team (2 years), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (2 Years), and Bauxite Christian Council (4 years). She has held leadership positions as a Student Council Representative (Freshman Year), Student Council Secretary (Sophomore Year), Student Council Vice President (Junior Year), Student Council President (Senior Year), Vice President of National Honor Society (Senior Year), Co-Captain of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Junior Year), Captain of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Senior Year), Selected for the 14’15’ Bauxite High School Leadership Team, Selected for the 15’16’ Bauxite High School Leadership Team, Captain of Jr. High basketball team (Freshman Year), Junior Class Vice President, and Senior Class Vice President Career Plans. She plans on obtaining a Sonography degree at Arkansas State, and then go on to work in either sports medicine, or in Obstetric sonography.

Applicants for the scholarship had to write an essay to be eligible for the $1,000 scholarship. A distinguished panel of ASHOF Board members, some of whom are also ASHOF Inductees, screened all essays and chose from those the five that stood out on a merit above and beyond their competitors. Adrienne was one of these five. Her hard-work and intelligence shows through her success.

Adrienne has played basketball for Bauxite all four years and has ran track as well (2 mile). She is currently tied for Valedictorian of her class.Adrienne is the perfect example of the well-rounded and high-achieving student Bauxite has continued to produce throughout the years. We look forward to seeing her success branch into every arena she decides to enter beyond Bauxite High School. Bauxite is extremely proud of Ms. LaSage, and is proud to call her a Bauxite Miner.
