Coach Lambert and his Lady Miners overcame a 5 point halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Leopards of Malvern 50-42 in the 3rd place game at the 4A-7 District Tournament. The game was played at Ashdown High School Saturday afternoon. A strong 4th quarter including 4 huge free-throws down the stretch by senior Joscelyn Rogers and freshmen Dai'Kierra Strong propelled the Lady Miners forward. A game Lady Leopard team kept Bauxite at bay for much of the game, but a tough Miner defense and clutch shots down the stretch was too much. Bauxite was lead in scoring by a pair of freshmen, Strong had 13 points and Destiny McClain had 10 points. Senior Joscelyn Rogers added 9 points. The Lady Miners will move on to play Monticello next Thursday at 4:00 at Dumas High School with a trip to the 4A state tournament on the line.
