Bauxite's flex player Valery Cotton (pictured above) came up huge in the second inning after blasting a hard single up the middle with the bases loaded to score 2 runs and spark the Lady Miners to victory over a very good Lady Indian squad.  Sophomore Daniele Singleton went 2-4, sparking Bauxite to a 5-0 victory in seven innings Thursday at Poyen.

The Lady Miners defeated Poyen 3-2 the first game of the season at Bauxite.  This time, Sophomore hurler Bailey Buffington kept Poyen off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on 5 hits while striking out 9.

The Lady Miners increased its lead with three runs in the fifth after Poyen had a clutch error to open the scoring in the frame followed by 3 consecutive Lady Miner singles. The onslaught included RBI hits by Buffington's and freshman slugger Taylor Sledd.

The Victory pushed the Lady Miner's record to 19-3 and set up a battle for 2nd place in the top heavy 7-4A conference with Nashville at home Friday.  The first pitch is set at 5:00.
