The makeup Civics Exam will be this Friday beginning at 10:00 am. If students are unable to take the test in person, they MUST email Mrs. Mathys at mathysb@bauxiteminers.org. Remember, this is a graduation requirement. Students will use their Chromebooks, so make sure they are charged and ready to go.

Class of 2021 - Are you interested in an apprenticeship for electrical or plumbing? Check your email and Class of 2021 Google Classroom for information from Associated Builders and Contractors of Arkansas.
Class of 2021 - There are lots of ways to pay for post-secondary training and education. The Arkansas Department of High Education has opportunities for students who are headed to college and for students who just want some training. Next Wednesday, November 4th, all seniors will meet in the auditorium during CAP for a submit party. We encourage virtual students to attend. We will be applying for the Arkansas Academic Challenge (lottery scholarship), the Arkansas Future Grant, and the Work Force Challenge Grant. All students should do this. You will need your Chromebook and your Social Security number in order to submit the application.
UCA's Bear Facts Day will be virtual this year. They're giving away a $1000 scholarship, but you must attend the virtual meeting to win.
ACT Aspire testing for 9th and 10th grade will be on Wednesday and Thursday morning of next week. All 9th and 10th graders should be at school for testing. Virtual students will be able to leave immediately after testing. If students are unable to make it those days, please email Mrs. Brewer at brewerl@bauxiteminers.org.
Today is the LAST day to sign up for the ASVAB that will be given during school on October 27th. Remember, this does not mean that you HAVE to join the military. If you are unsure of what you want to do after high school, this is a really good test to take. It'll give you some good information about what careers might be a good fit for your likes and abilities.

All Junior and Senior students should report to school by 7:45 in the morning for the Civics Exam. This includes all virtual students. The Civics Exam is a graduation requirement. If you are unable to take the test for any reason, please email Mrs. Mathys @mathysb@bauxiteminers.org. Please, check rosters in Google Classroom to know where to go for testing. Also, make sure Chromebooks are charged.
Student Council members Hannah Graham and Matthew Bainter deliver balloons, a Sonic drink, and a goody bag to Coach Russell Johnson, Civics/Economics teacher. Coach Johnson was nominated by his co-workers as the September Miner Teacher of the Month.
All juniors and seniors will take the Civics Exam on Wednesday, October 14th beginning 1st period. Unless you have gotten an email from Mrs. Mathys saying that you have ALREADY taken and passed the exam, you must take it. This is a graduation requirement, so all students must take it. Virtual students must be on campus to take the test. If you are unable to take the test on the 14th, you must email Mrs. Mathys at mathysb@bauxiteminers.org.

Bauxite High School celebrated Banned Books last week. Congratulations to the winners of the Banned Books Trivia and Dead End Paper Maze Contest. They each won a $10 Sonic Gift Card. Winners: Ethan Matthews, Trinity Brasher, Coach Britt, Brigette Phillips, and Mrs. Sewell.
